North Carolina handles Duke once again

Yesterdays Carolina / Duke game was another up and down game for the Blue Devils as they were usually down by 8-10 points but did get it down to two points in the second half before letting it slip away once again.  North Carolina won the game 86-72.

Greg Paulus led the Blue Devils with 21 points and had some clutch shots that really kep the Devils in the game.  But there was one play that I really think turned the game towards Carolina again.  Coming down the court, Paulus tried a alley opp from beyond the three-point line to Josh McRoberts that wasn’t even close, it allowed the Tar Hells to race down the court and score an easy bucket.  From there it was all Carolina.

Freshman Gerald Henderson scored a career high 16 points but it won’t be his scoring that everyone will be talking about.  With 14 seconds left in the game Tyler Hansbrough was going up for a layup and was fouled very hard by Henderson.  Henderson’s elbow/forarm crushed Hansbrough’s nose and Henderson picked up a flagrant foul, was ejected from the game, and will not play in the Devils first round ACC game.  I don’t agree with the suspension, but you have to go along with the refs who seen it different.

I have to ask though, you are up 12 with 14 seconds left, what in the hell is Hansbrough doing trying to score another basket?  Of course he is trying to make Duke look bad because of the heated rivalry.  Just remember payback is a bitch and the Devils will be a lot stronger in the future.  I just have to wonder what will happen if Carolina and Duke meet up in the ACC Tournament?  Hopefully it will be a clean game as Duke comes out on top!
