In the end it was a little bit closer then everyone thought it would be but the Duke Blue Devils moved to 2-0 on the young season as the beat New Mexico State 86-61 at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Jon Scheyer came off the bench to lead the Blue Devils in points with 22. After Scheyer, it was more of a balanced attack by the Blue Devils. DeMarcus Nelson had 14 points, Gerald Henderson chipped in 11, and Freshman Kyle Singler had 10 points.
One of the things I didn’t like about last nights game was how Duke was rushing some of their shots and not moving the ball around. I suppose we will see that a lot this season as Coack K and the Devils are going to get out there and run up and down the court.
Duke next heads to Lahaina, Hawaii, for the EA Sports Maui Invitational. On Monday, November 19 at 9 p.m. (ET), the Blue Devils will face Princeton in the opening round with the remainder of the field including Arizona State, Chaminade, Illinois, LSU, Marquette and Oklahoma State.
