Chalk up another win for the Duke Blue Devils as they beat a physical Miami team 88-73 Saturday afternoon at Cameron Indoor Stadium. Duke has been playing some very physical teams this year, and they are coming out throwing elbows, giving pushes, and other tacky things trying to get into the Duke player’s heads. Sorry, it isn’t working…
DeMarcus Nelson only scored two points int he first half, but he came out red hot in the second half and scored 19 points to finish with 21 total points. Nelson is clearly stepping up to be the goto scorer for this Blue Devil team. Exactly what the Senior should be doing.
Another player that has really stepped up his play is Greg Paulus. Paulus has been getting more assists, cutting down on his tournovers, and scoring the ball alot more in the last nine games. On Saturday, Paulus finished the game with 16 points, six rebounds, and two assists.
Kyle Single was the other Duke player to score in double figures. The Freshman chipped in with 14 points on 4 of 8 shooting.
Up next for the Blue Devils will be the bigtime rivalry game against North Carolina. Tip-off is set for 9 P.N. eastern from Chapel Hill. Anything can happen in this game but I will predict a 2 point win for the Blue Devils!

This game was full of Good News and Bad News. First, the Bad New was that the Officials did a marvelously SORRY JOB! They missed all the elbows, called fouls on Duke players when it was in fact Miami’s bad deed, and at times it was causing “Steam to errupt from Coach K”…. all for good reason. On the other hand, the Good News is Duke is more than up to the challenge of a dirty and tough team like this and this is a perfect prelude to Beating Carolina and their Backboard Bear…. Tylenol Hansborough!!!

It will be interesting to see how Duke plays tonight against a physical Carolina team. Can they contain Hansborough?
