Duke uses the long ball to beat North Carolina 89-78

It was raining three pointers last night during the Duke / North Carolina game, and they were all needed for the Blue Devils as they beat North Carolina 89-78.  Duke took over the lead with 11 minutes left in the first half, and led the rest of the ballgame as the Tar Heels could never get over the hump and regain the lead from the Blue Devils.

Greg Paulus had the hot hand from outside as he went 6-8 from downtown and scored a team high 18 points.  Jon Scheyer wasn’t too far behind Paulus as he scored 17 points.  Kyle Singler chipped in with 14 points, DeMarcus Nelson scored 13 points while battling foul trouble, Gerald Henderson had 12 points, and Lance Thomas helped out with 10 points.  Another all around balanced scoring attack by the Blue Devils.

One thing the Blue Devils need to get better at is boxing out and grabbing some damn rebounds.  They would make it a lot easier on themselves if they were just able to rebound.  Not having a big man that can grab 10-15 boards a game is really hurting this team.  If they want to make a deep run in the tournament, they are going to have to rebound a lot better.
