Duke ready to take on the Tarheels at the Dean Dome

The rivalry continues on Sunday afternoon as Duke and North Carolina will battle it out for the second time this season. The Tarheels got the best of Duke back on Feb 11th by the score of 101-87 so the Blue Devils are hoping to return the favor and beat the Tarheels on their home court to finish up regular season ACC play.

Once again, this game will come down to Duke slowing down Lawson and containing Hansbrough as best that the can. Do I think they can pull of the feat? No I don’t. However, I’m optimistic and think the Blue Devils can atleast keep this game close if Henderson, Singler, and Scheyer do not get into foul trouble trying to keep up with Lawson and Hansbrough.

We have to also look at the injuries for duke. Nolan Smith still has a mild concussion and has missed the last two games. Brian Zoubek has a broken nose, while Lance Thomas has a rolled ankle. I think Thomas will play, and Zoubek probably will to atleast foul Hansbrough three or four times in the game.

In the end I see the TarHeels winning the game by eight or ten points and winning the regular season ACC Championship.

What do you all think?

I hope we get to see a lot of Miles Plumlee, he is a big that is also mobile. Don’t understand with the lack of size why he hasn’t been in the game more. Duke is going to lose out early in the tourney without a big to play D and rebound. They have proven this the last couple of years. No team is going to come close surviving on the hope of 40% 3 point shooting to move to the next round. Rebounding is one of the big keys.

slowing down lawson may be a lot easier if his hurt big toe is a factor. i gotta think he will at least give it a go. the visitor has won 6 of the last 7 in the series so we could see 7 out of 8 especially if lawson is not effective.
