Duke holds off Davidson 79-67 on Wednesday night

Things start off slow for Duke and Davidson on Wendesday night as both teams committed multiple turnovers in the first 10 minutes of the games but after setteling down Duke came out on top with a 79-67 victory. It was a great non-conference game for the Blue Devils as Davidson is a very quality team. I like scheduling this type of game because Davidson is the kind of team that could give Duke trouble in the NCAA Tournament. Great overall win and the team can really learn and grow from it.

Jon Scheyer and Kyle Singler led the Blue Devils by pouring in 44 points combined. Scheyer and Singler both scored 22 points each. Singler scored a quick eight points early in the game as the Blue Devils got out to a nice lead. Scheyer was 3 of 4 from beyond the arc he was shooting the ball very well. Gerald Henderson was the only other Blue Devil to score in double figures ass he scored 11 points.

Overall I thought that the team played pretty well. They did go scoreless and played bad defense late in the second half when Davidson got the lead down to ten but after a timeout by Coack K they go things under control and finished the game strong on the defensive end. Stephen Curry the superstar from Davidson scored 29 points but only shot 10 of 22 and 1 of 9 from three point land. Duke did the right thing on defense as they forced Curry to take some bad shots commit some bad turnovers while he tried to get his teammates involved.

Duke improved to 13-1 on the year and now they will start preparing for their game on Saturday against Florida State. Any time the Blue Devils travel down to Tallahassee it is always a tough game and I expect nothing different about this trip. Tip-off is at 2:00 ET so make sure you don’t forget!
