Duke gets revenge on Wake Forest

The Duke Blue Devils and Gerald Henderson got a little bit of revenge on Wake Forest Sunday evening. Henderson scored a career high 35 points to lead the Blue Devils to a 101-91 victory at Cameron Indoor Stadum. This was one game that Coack K really wanted and he showed a lot of emotion through the entire game. He had the fans into the game early on and it really helped the team out I thought.

Once again we saw Jon Scheyer run the point guard position and Elliot Williams in the starting lineup. Williams gave the Blue Devils a bigtime spark in the first half as he caused three turnvovers within a couple of minutes on inbounds plays. Williams finished the game with 11 points while Scheyer had a career high 30. Kyle Singler chipped in 11 of his own points as well in the game.

I would expect Coack K to stick with this new starting lineup until it fails. It will be interesting to see how well Scheyer can run at the point guard position and also score. I would have to think he would need some more breaks than he is getting currently or he is going to become very tired come ACC Tournament time.

You all probably noticed that the team was wearing brand new jerseys last night. They will wear them a couple of more times and then reveal the brand new blue ones when they take on North Carolina in Chapel Hill.

So, can anyone honestly tell me why duke is ranked higher than Clemson? Just wondering.

  2. Steve Bentson Says:

One game doesn’t determine the teams ranking. Clemson beat Duke at Clemson. Maryland beat Carolina at Maryland. Maryland isn’t ranked higher than Carolina. Clemson is a top 10 team. So is Duke. But the folks that are voting believe, as I do, that Duke is better than Clemson. Unfortunately, Clemson doesn’t play at Cameron this year. let’s see what happens at the ACC Tournament!

Like Steve has mentioned you can’t look at rankings by who beat who. Duke has beat more quality opponents than Clemson has and that is one factor into why Duke is ranked ahead of the Tigers in the rankings.

I am a big Duke fan I always think that they are ranked higher because of their reputation and tradition. I think their win against Wake the other night was their only quality win of the season. I think Coach K needs to run a better offense and stop playing such a conservative brand of basketball.
