Duke gets by a scrappy Davidson team 79-73

It wasn’t pretty for the Duke Blue Devils but they did get the win and that is all that matters. Playing against a scrappy Davidson team, the Blue Devils held on for a 79-73 win. Duke had an 11 point lead going in to halftime but Davidson hung around just like a good underdog does when they are trying to pull off the upset. It took two huge baskets and a steal by Greg Paulus to secure the victory for the Blue Devils.

Gerald Henderson had a huge game for the Blue Devils as well. He finished with 21 points, eight rebounds, and three blocks. A nice complete game by Henderson who is really starting to come into his own and play the way we always thought he would. I expect to see a huge year by Henderson this year. Is Ashtma is under control it sounds like, so he is able to play more minutes and get in a better rhythm.

Jon Scheyer, Kyle Singler, DeMarcus Nelson, and Paulus were the other Blue Devils in double figures. Scheyer had 15 points, and Singler had 14 points. Paulus and Nelson both chipped in with 11 points each. It is so nice to see the balanced scoring attack for the Blue Devils this year. In past years, if a player like JJ or Sheldon didn’t have a big game, they didn’t have other scores on the team that could contribute and help them get a big win. This year that is a different story!
