Duke cruisies past Princeton 83-61

The Duke Basketball team took control early and cruised to a 83-61 victory over Princeton in the first round of the Maui Invitational. The Blue Devils got ahead quick, behind a strong a first half by freshman Kyle Singler. Singler finished the night with 21 points and eight rebounds. He was very dominate on the glass with most of his points coming on put backs.

Gerald Henderson had 12 points, and a couple of pretty nice dunks that got the crowd off their feet. Sharp shooter Jon Scheyer chipped in with 10 points as well.

One thing I hope that the Blue Devils start doing better is knocking down the three point shot however. On Monday night, they were only 5-19 from behind the arch, and that will not cut it in the ACC. Scheyer and Greg Paulus need to get going and knock down those wide open shots.

Duke will now take on Illinois who defeated Arizona State. This will be a battle of two 3-0 teams so I expect it to be a really good matchup. Hopefully Singler stays hot, and the Blue Devils can knock down some three pointers!
