It was a very physical game between Duke and Maryland on Wednesday night but what else would you expect in this rivalry. Both of these teams have been playing physical basketball when they step on the court for quite a while now. They usually bring the best out of each other especially when Duke travels up to Maryland’s home court. Wednesday night was no different but luckily for Duke, they came out on top with a 78-67 victory.
Gerald Henderson once again led the Blue Devils in the scorebook as he scored 19 points. Henderson also played pretty good defense and threw down a monsterous dunk in the game right after Nolan Smith was knocked out of the game by a hard screen. It was kind of a “I got you Nolan” moment I thought.
Jon Scheyer probably knocked down the biggest bucket of the night for the Blue Devils when he hit a three pointer with 1:54 left in the game. The shot gave Duke a 72-63 lead and got the crowd out of it as Maryland attempted to come back. Scheyer ended up finishing the game with 12 points.
Freshman stud Elliot Williams added 15 points for the Blue Devils. Kyle Singler added 13 points of his own even though he had five turnovers.
Good conference win on the road for Duke. Their record now stands at 23-5 overall and their next game will be Saturday afternoon against Virginia Tech.

Was very impressed how Duke was able to deliver the knockout punch on the road against Maryland. Williams gives them a new and much needed dimension I think.
