Duke improved to 2-0 on the young season as they beat Coastal Carolina in Durham 74-49. It wasn’t a great game for the Blue Devils on the offensive side of things but thanks to Kyle Singler things looked a little better. I’ll say it once again, but this team needs Jon Scheyer and one other player to really step up on offense. Maybe they will get a spark with Nolan Smith coming back on Tuesday night?
Singler led the way with 23 points on 8-14 shooting. Andre Dawkins threw in 13 points while Jon Scheyer and Miles Plumlee got into double figures with 10 points each.
It was Duke’s zone on defense that controlled this game in my opinion. Duke had 18 total fouls in the game but with the zone it really slowed down the Coastal Carolina offense to the tune of 49 points on 28.6% shooting.
Up next for the Blue Devils will be matchup between the Elon / Charlotte matchup that is going on right now at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
