Andre Dawkins to enroll early at Duke?

The Duke basketball team could get a bigtime boost in a few weeks if Andre Dawkins is able to skip his final year of high school and enroll early at Duke University. With the lack of depth at the guard position, Dawkins enrolling early would really give the Blue Devils a much needed boost at the position.

Dawkins could fill in behind Jon Scheyer and Nolan Smith while playing 15-20 minutes a game in my opinion. Sure he will have some bumps along the way but I’m willing to sit through those bumps because I think their will be a lot more positive plays than negative in his freshman campaign.

There has not been an official statement released by the university per NCAA rules at this time. We should here something more official as the first day of classes draws closer.

Stay tuned Duke fans!

Jamal Boykin to transfer

Well the rumors that started a few weeks ago about Jamal Boykin possibly transferring are true.  Boykin who hasn’t played much this year due to mono has decided to transfer back to a school in California reports are saying.

Boykin was considered a reach for the Blue Devils when he was coming out of Fairfax High (Calif.), but Duke was in need of a body up front and also needed four-year players to complement a class with Josh McRoberts.

Boykin played in 26 games his freshman campaign and logged a total of 70 minutes.

The departure may actually help the Blue Devils, who now have an extra scholarship if they want to sign another player in the spring. The only player that the Blue Devils are focusing on is Huntington High (West Va.) power forward Patrick Patterson.
