Jamal Boykin has mono

Duke forward Jamal Boykin has been officialy sidelined with mono and will not be practicing or playing with the team for quite a while.  Coack K has said, ” We want Jamal to finish up in the classroom this semester and then get home and rest”  That doesn’t sound good to me and I would be very suprised if he has an impact on the team this year.  Mono is just too hard to come back from within a few months.

Greg Paulus questionable for season opener

Sophomore point guard Greg Paulus is being reported as questionable for the season opener on Sunday night.  Paulus has not practiced with the team since late October due to his injured foot.  Coack K did say that Paulus would practice a little bit the next few days and they would see how the food responded before making an official annoucement.

If Paulus is not ready to go, Freshman Jon Scheyer will get his first regular season start for the Blue Devils.  To be honest, I don’t think it matters who starts or plays at point guard on Sunday night.   The Blue Devils are going to roll to an opening round win in the CBE Classic.

Paulus out indefinitely with broken bone in foot

Duke guard Greg Paulus has been ruled out indefinitely after breaking the fifth metatarsal in his left foot at practice on Saturday.  The injury is very similar to the injury that Carlos Boozer had.

This is a big time blow to the Duke team, Paulus is the floor general that runs the team and plays great defense.  He is needed bigtime to help with the incoming freshman and get them invloved in the offense.  With Paulus’s broken foot, look for DeMarcus Nelson, Jon Scheyer, and Gerald Henderson to get a lot of time at the guard positions.

The Blue Devils open the 2006-07 season Nov. 12 at home against Columbia.
