It was total domination for Duke on Tuesday night as the Blue Devils rolled over Charlotte 101-59 to move on to New York City. This game was never in question as Duke quickly rolled out to a double digit lead and never looked back. The Duke offense looked much better tonight and that was pretty much due to the fact that Nolan Smith was back in the linep afters serving a two game suspension.
Smith had a career high 24 points and five assists. Smith was on fire from the get go and after reading some of his twitter comments this morning you could really tell that he was excited to get out on the court and begin his season.
Jon Scheyer shot 7 of 13 from the field to knock in 20 points. Scheyer was 4 of 7 from three point land and also contributed with six rebounds and five assists. All around Scheyer had a great game!
Other Duke players that scored in double figures were Kyle Singler with 17 and Miles Plumlee with 15. Great all around game with a lot of contribution from every player. I like the fact that Singler got some rest this game as he only played 26 minutes. Singler and Scheyer are going to need to get their rest as the season goes on.
Duke will be back at things Saturday afternoon against Radford. I’d expect the backups to get quite a bit of work in this game as the Blue Devils should roll!
