Duke #9 in AP poll

Good morning Duke fans! So far Duke is 1-0 in their exhibition season and I didn’t have a write up following the game because I was extremely busy afterwards. I plan on getting my butt in gear however and will have a write up / recap after their next exhibition game against Findlay on Nov 3rd.

So the first polls are starting to come out and Duke is sitting at the number nine in the AP poll. This is a pretty good ranking as we aren’t exactly sure how this team will stack up against the rest of the country right now. The team has some questions marks especially with depth and what young players are going to step up and contribute every night. I think the number nine rating fits in exactly where the team should be.

Kyrie Irving set to announce Duke?

Good morning Duke fans! It looks like Kyrie Irving the talented combo guard from Elizabeth (N.J.) St. Patrick High School will announce his college decision Thursday evening on ESPN U. Irving is expected to pick between Duke, Texas A&M and Kentucky.

All signs are pointing to Irving signing with the Blue Devils for the class of 2010. Irvins is currently rated as the number nine player in the nation by rivals.com

Irving would be a huge get for the Blue Devils as he can play the point position which is a much needed position for the Blue Devils. If we can somehow land Irving and Harrison Barnes watch out in a few years!

Stay tuned as we will update this post after he announces his decision at 5:30 EST.

*** UPDATE ***

Well there we have it Duke fans! Kyrie just verbally committed to Duke University live on ESPN U. Kyrie said that he felt at home during his visit to Duke and that is one of the reasons that he chose the Blue Devils.

Highlights from dunk contest Friday night

Welcome to the 2009-2010 season Duke fans! I missed this update by a few days as I was out of town over the weekend but I’m excited to be back and get this season under way! The team held their blue/white scrimmage on Friday night and it was Nolan Smith leading the way with 25 points.

However, the highlight of the night was probably the players entrances and the dunk contest. Here are some dunk contest highlights courtesy of GoDuke.
