Blue / White game recap

Sorry I didn’t get this posted earlier, but I have been extremely busy the past week or so and wasn’t able to get the site updated.  Anyways I’m sure most of you have heard about the Blue / White scrimmage that the Duke team had on October 27th.

Well the Freshman played pretty decent.  They sure like to jack up shots that is for sure.  Maybe the coaches told them to go out and shoot the ball and not play hesitant like some freshman do.  Taylor King, Kyle Singler, and Nolan Smith combined for 61 points in the game.  King got off to a fast start as he scored 17 of his 19 points in the first half.  Single threw down 23 points, and Smith chipped in with 19.

Gerald Henderson the non-freshman players with 21 points.  Lets hope Henderson will play strong the entire year and score over 20 points a game to lead the Blue Devils.

In the end it was the Blue team winning by the score of 69-64.  The next game for the Blue Devils will be against Shaw University on Nov 1st at 6:30 p.m.

Kyle Singler named ACC Pre-Season Rookie Of The Year

Freshman Kyle Singler has been named the ACC Pre-Season Rookie Of The Year for the upcoming season.  Singler’s 36 votes more than doubled NC State’s J.J. Hickson, who finished second in the balloting.

Duke freshman guard Nolan Smith of Upper Marlboro, Md., also received five votes, placing him third on the list.

Lets all hope that Singler is the Rookie of the Year once the season is finished!

Greg Monroe committs to Georgetown

Well highly touted Greg Monroe has committed to the University of Georgetown instead of the likes of LSU and Duke.  Last week Monroe said that he would take an official visit to Duram for the Blue/White game but that never happened.  Instead he ended the recruiting process and has chosen the Hoyas.

I wish Mr. Monroe the best, unless the Blue Devils and Hoyas face off!

Greg Monroe sets official visit date to Duke

The number 1 player in the country has officialy set a visit date to visit Duke.  Greg Monroe will be on campus Oct 28th for the Blue / White game.  If you plan on attending the game, please let Monroe know how much we want him at Duke!

This could be a bigtime signing for Coack K and the staff if Monroe does decide to join the Duke family.  Right up there with a Elton Brand or Shane Battier signing.
