The Austin Toros of the NBA Development League have acquired guard Jason (Jay) Williams and waived guard Melvin Scott (North Carolina).Williams, 6-2, 195, was the second overall selection in the 2002 NBA Draft by the Chicago Bulls and was the recipient of the 2002 Naismith and Wooden Awards following his final season at Duke, given annually to the nation’s best collegiate basketball player. Williams led Duke to the national championship in 2001 and was a two-time Associated Press first-team All-America selection.
He is continuing his basketball comeback after severing a nerve in his leg, fracturing his pelvis and tearing three of the four main ligaments in his left knee in a motorcycle crash in June of 2003. Williams reports to the Toros on Sunday and will play for former NBA great Dennis Johnson, in his second season as head coach at Austin.
Good Luck Jason, everyone at JustDuke.Com wishes you the best and hope you can make a return to the NBA.

Well the rumors that started a few weeks ago about Jamal Boykin possibly transferring are true. Boykin who hasn’t played much this year due to mono has decided to transfer back to a school in California reports are saying.
Boykin was considered a reach for the Blue Devils when he was coming out of Fairfax High (Calif.), but Duke was in need of a body up front and also needed four-year players to complement a class with Josh McRoberts.
Boykin played in 26 games his freshman campaign and logged a total of 70 minutes.
The departure may actually help the Blue Devils, who now have an extra scholarship if they want to sign another player in the spring. The only player that the Blue Devils are focusing on is Huntington High (West Va.) power forward Patrick Patterson.

Wow what an ugly first half of the game the Duke Blue Devils played last night against Holy Cross.  It seemed like no one could hit a open shot, and Holy Cross was giving them wide open looks all night but the ball just wasn’t going in the hoop for the Blue Devils.
Once the second half came around though Duke took control of the game and pulled ahead to win 57-45. Duke came out of intermission running, and Josh McRoberts’ fast break dunk at the 16:56 mark knotted the contest at 30-30. After the Crusaders scored four straight points, the Blue Devils used a 13-0 run – highlighted by three-pointers from Gerald Henderson and DeMarcus Nelson – to take a 43-34 lead on a foul shot by Lance Thomas with 10:41 remaining
The next game for the Devils will be this Saturday at noon from Cameron Indoor Stadium. They will be taking on Mid-Major powerhouse George Mason.

Duke and Holy Cross will battle tonight at 7 eastern in a game that should be pretty exciting for both teams and fans. Holy Cross comes into the game with a 6-2 record, with one of their losses coming against Syracuse which they played within 4 points in the final minute.
If Duke wants to win this game like most fans think they should, Josh McRoberts and Greg Paulus will have to lead the way. McRoberts needs to score 20 points, and Paulus needs to chip in with 10-15 points. Factor in a good game from DeMarcus Nelson and the freshman and you can see Duke win by 15-20 points.

(AP) Greg Paulus scored 13 points and Jon Scheyer had nine – all 22 in the second half – and No. 11 Duke played some impressive defense over the final 11 1/2 minutes in a 61-52 victory over No. 18 Georgetown on Saturday night.
The Blue Devils (7-1) extended their nonconference home winning streak to 46 games, second in the country to Oklahoma’s 49, but they didn’t take the lead for good until there was 4:55 to play.
Georgetown (4-3) shot 57.7 percent in the first half in taking a 34-27 lead and the Hoyas were still leading 43-39 with 11:28 to go when Duke turned up the defense and allowed just two field goals the rest of the way, one a tip-in with 43 seconds left.
Josh McRoberts had 15 points for Duke, which came into the game allowing just 52.3 points per game. The win moved coach Mike Krzyzewski into 10th place alone on the career victory list with No. 760. He had been tied with former Western Kentucky coach Ed Diddle.
