ChicagoSports.Com posted a pretty good article about Jon Scheyer being at Duke and how different it is for him right now compared to going to school in North Glenbrook. Here is a link to the article.

Rivals.Com has released their pre-season poll and they currently have Duke at #14. They were #10 before Greg Paulus broke his foot. About where most Duke fans expected the team to be placed. They will have to prove they can win with the young team and with Paulus out that is going to hurt. It will be an exciting season with all the young players and seeing how Paulus, Nelson, and McRoberts step up as team captains and leaders.

Duke guard Greg Paulus has been ruled out indefinitely after breaking the fifth metatarsal in his left foot at practice on Saturday. The injury is very similar to the injury that Carlos Boozer had.
This is a big time blow to the Duke team, Paulus is the floor general that runs the team and plays great defense. He is needed bigtime to help with the incoming freshman and get them invloved in the offense. With Paulus’s broken foot, look for DeMarcus Nelson, Jon Scheyer, and Gerald Henderson to get a lot of time at the guard positions.
The Blue Devils open the 2006-07 season Nov. 12 at home against Columbia.

Tonight is the night for the Duke Mens Basketball Team, the season has arrived and its time to get out there and practice! Coack K will have a young team once again, and hopefully a run and gun offense that we expect. Sophomore Josh McRoberts will be leading the way with Greg Paulus not far behind. Excpect Paulus to find McRoberts and DeMarcus Nelson multiple times this year on a fast break.
Another player to pay watch for his incoming freshman Gerald Henderson. Henderson is a big time player and is going to be the next great Duke Blue Devil!

Former Duke star JJ Redick still has not taken part in any preseason practices or games. First it was a back injury that caused him to miss all the summer league games and then early in training camp Orlando Magic trainers discovered a soft tissue tear in his left foot.
JJ plans on having the boot removed from his foot later this week he hopes and being practicing next week. If he wants some early playing time with the Magic he is going to have to overcome these injuries and get out on the court and show the team what he can do against NBA defenses.

Former Duke star Jayson Williams returned to the game he loved last night. Jay played 17 minutes going 1-3 and finishing with two points. He had two rebounds, one steal, and four turnovers.  It was great just seeing Jay back out on the court doing what he loves.
Hopefully the next game he gets 20 minutes and cuts down on his turnovers. I would love to see him make the Nets full season roster and continue to improve.
