Former Duke star Jayson (Jay) Williams has signed a contract with his home state New Jersey Nets.  The contract is not guranteed and pretty much just invites Williams to the Nets training camp.  Great news for Jay everyone is pushing for him.  What an accomplishment it would be for him to make a NBA roster after his accident.  We are all rooting for you Jayson, keep up the hard work.

Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski announced that junior guard DeMarcus Nelson, sophomore guard Greg Paulus and sophomore forward Josh McRoberts were named team captains for the 2006-07 season. Paulus and McRoberts become the first sophomores to be named team captains in the 102-year history of the Duke men’s basketball program.

Talk about some leadership coming from the stud sophomores in Paulus and McRoberts. They are going to have a huge load to fill and hopefully will take it all in and really put this team on their backs and guide them to another ACC Championship.

The Blue Devils open the 2006-07 campaign on Sunday, Nov. 12 at home against Columbia in the opening round of the College Basketball Experience Classic. Tip-off for the season opener is set for 8:30 p.m. Get your tickets for home opener here! Guranteed tickets at a great price!

Coach K is now back after leading Team USA to a bronze medal in the World Championships.  Coach K likes his comfort level, and that is what he has at Duke.  In an article posted at ESPN, Coach said that he he prefers staying at Duke and not coaching in the NBA.  Wow, that is really good news for Duke fans!

Sounds like Coach is ready to get the season going for the Blue Devils and I can’t wait to watch the new young team this year.  It will be exciting to see how the team plays without Redick and Williams.
